Deason got his tournament off to a great start as he posted a 5-under 66 in the first round. His round included back to back birdies on 2 and 3, and a stretch of 3 consecutive birdies on 5,6,and 7. He made the turn at 4-under par, and made back to back birdies on 10, and 11. Deason made a bogey on 18 to post 5-under, good enough to take a 2 shot lead into the final round.
As the 2nd round got underway, Deason continued his good play as he birdied the par 3 4th hole, he would go on to add another birdie on the par 5 7th to make the turn at 2-under. After making the turn, Deason made birdie on 10, and added back to back birdies on 12 and 13. He would go on to add another birdie 15 to post a back 9 4-under to shoot a bogey free 6-under 65 to win by 6. With this win, Deason how now won 7 times on the SwingThought TOUR.
Anthony Maccaglia, Mark Silvers, Bruce Woodall, and Corey Nagy all finished in a tie for 2nd place at 5-under par.
Anthony Maccaglia vaulted up the leaderboard after he shot a final round 6-under 65. He got off to a great start after making a birdie on 2. Maccaglia then made back to back birdies on 7 and 8 before making a bogey on 9 to make the turn at 2-under. He added another birdie on 11 before making an eagle on the par 5 15th. Maccaglia would go on to add another birdie on 18 to post a 6-under par round, to move up the leaderboard. Maccaglia now has 4 finishes of 3rd or better this season.
Mark Silvers entered the final round in a tie for 2nd, 2 shots behind Deason. Silvers made 3 consecutive birdies on 5,6, and 7 to make the turn at 3-under. He made a bogey on 14, but was able to bounce back right after and make a birdie on the par 5 15th. After a bogey on 17, Silvers finished his back 9 at 1-over par to post a final round 2-under 69.
Like Silvers, Bruce Woodall entered the final round 2 shots behind Deason. After an opening bogey, Woodall bounced back with back to back birdies on 2, and 3. He would then make 3 straight pars before adding another bogey on 7 to make the turn at Even par. Woodall made the turn and quickly made a birdie on 10, before adding another birdie on 14 to post a back 9 2-under 34, to also shoot a 2-under 69. This continues a hot stretch of golf for Woodall as his has finished Tied for 2nd, 1st, and Tied for 2nd in his previous 3 starts. Woodall has also finished 3rd or better in 5 of his 6 starts this season.
Rounding out the group tied for 2nd was Corey Nagy, who also entered the final round 2 behind Deason. Nagy got his final round started with 3 consecutive pars before he added a birdie on 4. Nagy then made back to back birdies on 7 and 8 to make the turn at 3-under. After making the turn, Nagy made 4 straight par’s before adding a bogey on 14. He would go on to make 4 more par’s as he shot a back 9 1-over 37 to post a final round total of 2-under.
