Grant Leaver Wins 2017 Three Ridges Classic

Monday August 21st, 2017: Tennessee native Grant Leaver shot a final round 7-under 65 to run away with his 2nd National Series victory of the year. Leaver also won in his hometown of Nashville earlier this season. Heading into the final round Leaver had a 3 shot lead over Daniel Claytor and Chris Hickman. After shooting a blistering 5 under 31 on the front 9 that included birdies on 1,4,6,7, and 8, Leaver found himself 8 shots clear of his next closest competitor. Leaver made 2 more birdies coming in to post 21-under and winning by 6. Leaver his continuing his a great stretch of golf that includes 2 victories on the SwingThought TOUR, a victory in Iowa, and a made cut at the PGA Tour’s Barbasol Championship.

SwingThought TOUR leaderboard staple Daniel Claytor found himself in a familiar position the final 2 rounds; in contention and in the final pairing. In 5 events this season, Claytor has 3 wins, a solo 2nd, and a T2 finish. After shooting a disappointing 1 over 73 on Friday, Claytor bounced back with a 4-under par final round to finish at 15-under and in solo 2nd.

Chris Hickman, last year’s winner at Three Ridges once again found himself in contention heading into the final round. Hickman who started the day tied for 2nd with Claytor, shot a final round 3-under 69 to finish 3rd at 14-under.

Carson Jacobs entered the final round in a tie for 5th place, and a final round 68 helped him move up to 4th place alone. Rounding out the top 5 were Knoxville natives Brad Hawkins and David Holmes. Hawkins who regularly plays at Three Ridges shot a 5-under 67 to move up 5 spots on the leaderboard. Holmes who played college golf at the University of Tennessee, shot a final round 3-under 69 to earn a top 5.
