Seabolt Earns Third Victory at Gates Four

Zach Seabolt earned his 3rd victory of the season, after a 1 shot win over Taylor Pendrith at Gates Four.

Seabolt entered the final round with a 5 shot lead after shooting rounds of 67, 66 to get to 11-under par. Seabolt started his final round with 6 consecutive pars before making a bogey on 7. He added another bogey on 9 to make the turn at 2-over. Seabolt made his first birdie of the day on 10, and added a 2nd birdie on 13 to get back to Even par. He would go on to make another bogey on 16 before making back-to-back pars to close out a 1-over par round, good enough to win by 1. This is Seabolt’s 4th Top 5 in 4 starts this season, including his 3 wins.

Finishing in 2nd was Taylor Pendrith. Pendrith, who started his day in a Tie for 2nd made back-to-back birdies on 3 and 4, followed by 5 consecutive pars to make the turn at 2-under. He made 4 more pars to open up the back 9 before adding a birdie on 14. Pendrith would add another birdie on 17 to shoot a final round 4-under 68, and earned his first Top 5 of the season, in his first start.

Carter Jenkins also entered the final round in a Tie for 2nd. Jenkins made a bogey on his first hole, but was able to make a birdie on 6 after 4 consecutive pars. He would go on to add another birdie on 9 to make the turn at 1-under. Jenkins opened his back 9 with 4 consecutive pars before adding another birdie on 14. He followed that birdie with a bogey on 15, but he closed his round out with back-to-back birdies to shoot a final round 3-under 69 to earn his first Top 5 of the season.

Finishing in 4th was TJ Mitchell. Mitchell, who entered the final round in a Tie for 4th made a bogey on his 3rd hole. After 5 consecutive pars, Mitchell added a birdie on 9 to make the turn at Even par. Mitchell made 5 straight pars to open up the back 9 before making a bogey on 15. He bounced right back with a birdie on 16 to shoot and Even par round of 72. This is Mitchell’s 4th made cut of the year, and marked his highest finish of the 2019 season.

Rounding out the Top 5 were Ryan Troyer, and Christopher Babcock. Troyer, who won at Gates Four last year shot shot a 3-under 33 on the front 9 which included birdies on 4,6 and 9. After a bogey on 10, Troyer made a birdie on 14, but he made another bogey on 16 to finish at 2-under on the day.

Christopher Babcock entered the final round in 9th, but moved up the leaderboard with a 4-under round of 68. Babcock, made birdies on 4 and 7 to make the turn at 2-under. Babcock would make 2 more birdies on 13 and 17 to finish his round with a bogey free 68.
