Tepe Earns First Pro win at Elks Run

David Tepe closed out his first professional win after firing a final round bogey free 66 at Elks Run. After opening with rounds of 5-under 66, and 2-under 69, Tepe entered the final round 5 shots clear of his closest competitor, Thaddeus Obecny.

Tepe got his final round started with an opening 9 1-under 35 after making a lone birdie on his 2nd hole. After making the turn, Tepe made a birdie on the par 4 10th, then followed that up with birdies on 13. Tepe nearly holed out his 2nd shot on 14, but he tapped it in for his 2nd consecutive birdie. He would go on to add one last birdie on 16 to get to 12-under, and secure his first professional win.

Finishing in 2nd was Thaddeus Obecny. Obecny started the final round 5 behind Tepe, and got off to a hot start. Obecny made a birdie on the par 5 3rd hole, then followed it up with 3 straight birdies on 5,6, and 7 to make the turn at 4-under and close the gap to 2 shots. Obecny wasn’t able to keep his hot streak going on the back, as he added a lone birdie on 11 to close in 1-under 34. Obecny finished his final round with a bogey free 5-under 66 to post 7-under total for the tournament.

Ben Kendrick made the cut on the number, but moved into solo 3rd after a final round 1-under 71. Kendrick, who also made the cut the week before at Oxmoor, was looking to keep his stretch of good golf going. He made a birdie on the opening hole and added another birdie on the par 5 3rd. He made back to back bogies on 5 and 6 to make the turn at even. Kendrick made a lone birdie on back 9 on 15 to finish at 1-under on the day, and 1-under for the tournament.
