Scott Wolfes closed out his win at Sapelo Hammock last week in impressive fashion. Wolfes shot a final round 6-under 66, which included 3 consecutive birdies on 16,17, and 18 to secure his first win on the SwingThought TOUR.
Wolfes got his tournament started with a 4-under 68, in very tough scoring conditions, he followed that up with a second consecutive round of 68 to find himself tied for 2nd entering the final round. Wolfes got off to a hot start during the final round. He holed out for eagle on 4, then followed that up with a birdie on 5. He would add one more birdie on the front 9 to make the turn at 4-under. After making the turn, Wolfes made a bogey on 11 but bounced back with a birdie on 12. Wolfes would make another bogey on 15, before closing out his round with birdies on 16,17, and 18 to win by 1 and earn his first career SwingThought TOUR victory.
Finishing in 2nd was Matt Short. Short shot an even par 72 in the first round, but he came back strong during round 2 with a bogey free 9-under 63 to take a 1 shot meat into the final round. During the final round, Short made 3 birdies on the front 9 to turn at 3-under par. Short kept his good play going, and made back-to-back birdies on 11 and 12, but he made a bogey on 14. Short then made 5 consecutive pars to finish at 13-under for the week, and 1 shot behind Wolfes.
Finishing in a tie for 3rd were Ryan Sullivan and Chase Parker. Sullivan, who started his day in a tie for 10th vaulted up the leaderboard with a 9-under 63. He got his day off to a lightning fast start with 5 consecutive birdies on 1-5, before adding another birdie on 9. After making the turn, Sullivan made a birdie on 14, before making a bogey on 15. Sullivan bounced back with 3 consecutive birdies to close out his round.
Chase Parker continued his good play with his 2nd consecutive tie for 3rd finish. Parker started his final round with a birdie on 2, followed by birdies on 5,6 and 9, but he also made a double bogey on 8 to make the turn at 2-under. He made a bogey on 11, but followed that up with a birdie on 12. Parker would then go on to make one more birdie on 18, to shoot a final round 3-under 69.
Rounding out the Top 5 was TJ Mitchell and Cole Miller. Mitchell got off to a fast start with birdies on 1,3,5 and 6 to make the turn at 4-under. Mitchell made a bogey on 15, but wrapped up his tournament by holing out his 2nd shot on the par 5 18th for an albatross. With this finish, Mitchell now has 2 Top 10 finishes in 3 starts this season.
Cole Miller rounded out the Top 5 after shooting a final round 2-under. Miller made 3 consecutive birdies on 3,4 and 5 to make the turn at 3-under. He made bogeys on 12 and 15, before making a birdie on 18 to shoot 70 and earn his first Top 5 in his first career SwingThought TOUR start.
